The recent leaks of the NSA's secret access to the most popular cloud service providers bring to light that it is more important now than ever to ensure your data is held privately and securely. There is an inherent belief that sacrifices need to be made with ease or usability of a service in order to protect privacy and security, but that is where SpiderOak breaks the model SpiderOak is a backup, sync and sharing solution with all the features you would expect and the privacy and security you deserve. Along with not being able to access your encryption key, the SpiderOak team has open sourced parts of its code allowing anyone to verify and contribute to its development. I would highly recommend this service as a replacement for your cloud storage provider if you value your privacy. It is competitive on features, compatibility and price as well as far surpasses the privacy protections of its competitors. Thank you SpiderOak for understanding and implementing how cloud storage should work.
I can't recommend your services enough when someone asks me about online storage to backup their most important files. The fact that you have a zero-knowledge policy when it comes to my data really provides me with the peace of mind I need to entrust you guys with my files. I also love how you guys offer your services on multiple platforms, including Linux, and a mobile app for Android. This permits me to upload a paper I may need for class or a few songs I may want to hear on my phone when I'm out and about and know that it's available to me on demand. I'll take SpiderOak even over Ubuntu One, primarily because I know my files are secure, even from SpiderOak staff, and I have the freedom to access them from anywhere and at anytime. While I might not be able to do much with 2GB of storage, I certainly love that you have rather affordable plans for extra data. i would recommend you guys over anyone else any day of the week. Thank You for all you do to keep the data of people like me safe and accessible. Kudos.
SpiderOak is the first and most likely only "cloud" storage solution I've ever used. And moreover is the only online backup solution I trust to put data with any degree of sensitivity on without any preparation such as extra encryption. It goes without saying that I can and do recommend it to people. What I like most about SpiderOak is probably the fact that it seems designed for me as a sysadmin to use either on a desktop or my server machines which is highly important. I don't often see online backup solutions where using them is as simple as a cron job. I finally have a response for people who ask me if I know of any online backup services that are trustworthy and robust. And that is SpiderOak.
I am that security paranoid person who everyone pokes fun at, until they need a recommendation on what software to use. For years, I've been searching for a backup and synchronization solution that I can trust and use. When I heard about SpiderOak and its Zero Knowledge policy, I became very excited, but still was cautious. That is why I read through all of the documentation and sent them detailed questions regarding several of their cryptographic decisions. Though it took a few days, their CTO took the time to respond to me and explain their choices. This is why I trust them. I trust them because their design is good. I trust them because they continually work to protect their customers. I trust them because their CTO took the time to answer the security questions of a total stranger about their internal workings. Just as importantly, they make it easy to be secure. Far too often people need to choose between security and convenience. With SpiderOak, the security is invisible, but it still keeps you safe. I can be confident that my friends will not accidentally use SpiderOak in a way to harm themselves. This is why I now recommend SpiderOak. With it, I know that my friends, regardless of their skill level, can stay safe against not only security threats, but against hard drive failure as well. It is the ultimate peace of mind.

SpiderOak for me is the most reliable and secure safehouse for data. Once it’s set up (and that is not rocket science) it’s super simple to share my information over any device I have or will have.
SpiderOak has been my go to for cloud backup and syncing for a slew of reasons but mostly due to the zero knowledge policy by the company in regards to my data. In a time where users feel that they have no privacy and people and governments appear to have their fingers in all of our personal bits and bytes, I feel very comfortable knowing that my data at SpiderOak is secure. I trust them to hold safe my data knowing that at the end of the day it’s still MY data. Thanks SpiderOak!
SpiderOak is hands-down my favourite online backup solution. Privacy is something people are willing to give up all too easily these days, so SpiderOak’s unwavering commitment to having zero knowledge about my data is refreshing. In fact, it’s more than that–given all the news about government snooping these days, it’s very reassuring, too. SpiderOak has a lot of well-deserved geek-cred, and I definitely do recommend it to my friends and family.
I had accidentally overwritten a file I had been working on for hours and lost all my changes. Then I realized I had backed up my work on SpiderOak, found my file and restored it from a historical version. Hours of work saved! But what I find most inspiring about SpiderOak is it’s leadership in showing companies that it is possible to create valuable web services without compromising user’s privacy and security. Particularly the development of the Zero Knowledge Application Framework is motivating, because as an aspiring app creator, it helps solves the issues around how to safeguard a user’s valuable data. As a self-proclaimed "techy", I needed a way to store files in the cloud and sync them between my various devices. However, as an information security professional I loathed the idea of using Dropbox or another such service to store my files; privacy and security go hand-in-hand for me, and I frankly didn't trust a third-party with my data. Having a written policy, such as Dropbox's, which amounted to "we can see your data if we want to, but choose not to" didn't cut it for me. When I found SpiderOak and realized that it was a true "zero knowledge" provider which offered the same backup, storage, and syncing services as those other products, I just had to give it a try. Time waits for no man, and much has passed since I first gave SpiderOak a try, but I'm happy to say that I'm still a satisfied user. Keep up the good work, SpiderOak - there are many who count on you. I can rest easy at night knowing that my important data is backed up and secure, safely sitting in the cloud. Now, I recommend SpiderOak to all my friends and family for the simple reason that I know it's secure and it works. Kudos!
