Companies may purchase space in 1 TB increments and divide up the space however makes the most sense within the organization. For example, you can distribute 100 GBs to 5 users and 10 GBs to 50 users. The allocation of space can be controlled at the LDAP / AD group level to make distribution easy and seamless.
NOTE: We do enforce a 10 GB minimum per account such that you can fit a maximum of 100 users within 1 TB of allocated space.
Users can share any folder and/or file included in their backup set. Administrators have the ability to track all ShareRooms as well as view/disable them should the need arise. Further, administrators can limit both the file types and length of time shares may be active.
Administrators can view the full backup set of each user. Further, administrators have the ability to preconfigure a backup set to ensure certain data is accounted for from the Desktop to the Documents folder. This includes the ability to restrict certain types of files from being uploaded. All of this is configurable at the LDAP / AD group level.
SpiderOak Blue offers Teir 1 customer support. We prefer to work directly with and educate a company's existing support infrastructure given this is the first place users will turn. We provide extensive documentation and full Level 2 support.
SpiderOak's data centers are SAS 70 Type II compliant. Our data center is considered a Tier 3 data center by the Uptime institute, with N+1 infrastructure, employs the SSAE-16 audit schedule, physically staffed 24/7. Please contact us for a full list of our compliance certificates.
Additionly, SpiderOak does match the requirements set forth by HIPAA. The SpiderOak client and server environment contain all the appropriate technical security mechanisms to protect the data that is transmitted to and from the SpiderOak servers. In fact, we built the SpiderOak 'zero-knowledge' privacy environment specifically to handle this task. That said, we do not currently employ a HIPAA compliance officer for self-certification.
The services provided by SpiderOak do form a critical part of Data Backup, Disaster Recovery, and Emergency Mode Operations strategies by providing remote accessible backup, storage and restore services that are geographically distant from the client site to minimize the likelihood of data loss in a large-scale disaster. In the event of loss of the primary data center, data located on the SpiderOak cloud can easily, securely and quickly be accessed and restored. Covered entities are required to comply with the HIPAA Administrative Simplification Security Rule since April 21, 2005. SpiderOak, as part of a comprehensive security plan, can be an important part of your compliance strategy.
SpiderOak Blue sells space in 1 TB increments. A company can feel free to divide up the space as it requires either individually or by LDAP / AD group. Additionally, bonus GBs may be granted at any time should the need arise.
Note: We do enforce a 10 GB minimum per account such that you can fit a maximum of 100 users within 1 TB of allocated space.
SpiderOak uses industry-standard SSL encryption to secure communication channels from end-to-end. Data is encrypted locally, uploaded encrypted, stored encrypted, and sent back to a user's registered device encrypted. This provides the foundation for our 'Zero-Knowledge' Privacy environment.
SpiderOak Blue integrates with a user's existing folder structure such that a user does not have to recreate folders/files inside a different area or 'box'. Anything a user's computer can see SpiderOak can backup/sync/share including external drives, network volumes, or USB keys.
As a company, SpiderOak has always believed in providing a service without limitation. As such, there are no file size or file type restrictions. That said, we do allow the company to exert controls on what types of data can be uploaded including limitations on file size. We feel this flexibility is important for the company to fully control. These controls are available at the 'group' level.
Administrators will have access to general account usage, storage per user, last logins, number of devices per user, total space used, full details on what data is being shared, and more. Custom reports are available.
We do offer custom pricing for academic institutions and non-profits. For more information please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Even though all your data is stored encrypted, you can carefully and selectively allow portions of your SpiderOak Network to be shared (or become public) to family, friends, colleagues, or clients. You can create a ShareRoom by choosing any number of folders from several of your computers. A ShareRoom may be accessed as a unique web URL or by entering a user's ShareID and RoomKey on the SpiderOak homepage – easily allowing people you invite to view your documents, pictures, movies, and so on.
Additionally, as you make additions or edits to the folders within a ShareRoom (no matter what computer those changes are made on), the changes are automatically viewable to those who have access to the ShareRoom. This process is definitely more efficient than having to constantly upload new changes to an FTP site or resend big files via e-mail.
SpiderOak Blue's central management enables IT departments to administer SpiderOak accounts on user devices without having to own the device or login remotely.
A central administrator can deploy SpiderOak to thousands of employees who gain access to the product by logging off and logging back onto their computer.
Yes, SpiderOak Blue Private Cloud is designed for this exact purpose. We can structure a solution using our own pre-configured storage infrastructure,or integrate with your existing facilities.
